office space

i love Office Space...never gets old. takes me back to my days in Dallas...working for Grope 1 Software and exposing my lungs to asbestos in a TXU building. take this flare and shove it.

my brain still feels like it is sloshing around in my skull...an imaginary concussion. hope i passed the boards.

i'm not a nurse yet, but

Have been watching some TV...and found a few fallacies.

The State Farm Insurance Commercial - Insulin
Insulin can be stored at room temperature for up to a month. The State Farm worker didn't have to bring his client a fridge immediately.

Notting Hill - Julia Roberts, pregnant laying on her back on the bench
A pregnant woman would not be laying on her back (supine) because her aorta would be compressed and cause her to become light headed and faint. Expectant mothers are told to lay on their side.

You can put your weed in there

Great article about public storage on Slate.com
You can't pick your neighbors.

This unsavory screen persona has a basis in fact. In the last year, scanning the newspapers, one can find instances in which self-storage units were found to contain: a corpse (more than once); lye, ammonia, and the other detritus of a meth lab; two girls, age four and five, playing inside a padlocked unit to which they, along with their mother, had made their residence as of a week before; the cameras and photographs of a child pornographer; and the "office" of a self-proclaimed gynecologist who in fact had no medical degree. Both Timothy McVeigh and Ramsi Yousef stored chemicals in self-storage units, and in 2003 the Department of Homeland Security issued guidance on how storage operators can spot potential terrorists.

so it appears...

that i am enthusiastic about bodily functions (i.e. #1 and #2), as evidenced by my entries for the month of july...frothy poo, urinating in public, etc. it's because i'm stressed and eager to get the Boards over and done with. one week from tomorrow is test day.

as a recovering vegetarian, i'm disgusted

The alley...toilet to all

Ever wonder why the alley smells like piss? Check these guys out. I don't blame them for taking a break from the Chicago Pride Parade festivities. Butt guys? Watch your back!

Yesterday, my friend Jesse, Chicago's ultimate cowgirl, was showing me pics on her new Canon digital SLR (badass!) and she had a random pic of a guy pissing in the alley. now THAT's rude. :) there wasn't even a parade.

I borrowed these pics from buds Karen and Andrew - great fans of Harold and Kumar go to White Castle.

It's like a fanny pack but not really

If you ever feel bogged down with dragging around a purse to hold your cell phone, keys, lipstick, etc, use your built in carrying case...CLEAVAGE.

Tonight on the Broadway bus, I watched this woman clad in a top with a LOW neckline stick carry her cell phone in between her breasts. It draws your eyes away from her chest hair.

Cafe in Barnes and Noble aka artist's workshop

While I was studying for the NCLEX, I heard a man reading outloud...so i thought, hmm, he's reading to his kids. how nice. Then I heard the words, "God" and "heaven."

The man who was busy drinking cream soda and totally involved in his landscape painting in watercolor (Barnes and Noble = Painting?) was filming his art work and talking about God. Everyone in the cafe looked up to see what this dude's problem was and then went on with their business. Another crazy man at yet another coffee place. Posted by Picasa

Sunday...That is today

I didn't join the festivities of Chicago's Gay Pride Parade as I wanted to this year...with family, friends and a happenin corner...due the the boards coming up in a few weeks and my supportive role in a special someone's legal aspirations.

However, I did get to capture some of the moments of the Parade. No signs of Wilson Cruz (RICKY!!) though. Lucky me...I saw him at the Pride 10K on Sat.

Lots of Pride on the block. Not as action packed as Halstead and Belmont, but the Wellington to Diversey section ain't too far behind.

Note the picture below of the Couch On The Sidewalk (COTS) and the people sitting in the COTS. My favorite shot of the day.

3 Reasons Why I Love Chicago

All this in under 2 hours:

1. Saw a man steal printer ink cartridges at Kinko's
2. Had a woman (a crazy lady) spit in my direction...miss me by 1 foot...hey, good aim
3. Walked by a black man with a blond wig

read me

I'm reading Nick Hornby's new book: A Long Way Down

Like it
Won't read Slate.com's review until I'm done
Will finish it soon
Half-way there (...living on a prayer...take my hand...shit, now it will be in my head all day long..it's my own fault)

Tuckpoint

Tuckpointers have decended outside my window. It's loud...the building seems to shake...you can't open the window.

What are tuckpointers?
What is tuckpointing?
Why do I care?
Why do you care?

Here's Merriam-Webster definition: Pronunciation: 't&k-"pointFunction: transitive verb: to finish (the mortar joints between bricks or stones) with a narrow ridge of
putty or fine lime mortar

Conflagration

The community speaks...local grocery store goes up in smoke.
The grocery store we all thought sucked but had to shop at for there was no other place to go. So all criticism, all valid and honest, were followed up with expressions of guilt.
They needed to renovate...
Maybe they'll build something better...

The produce there sucked...
I hope no one was hurt...

I stood in line for 45 minutes. My ice cream melted.
Uh, did everyone get out ok?

Ubiquitous Hot Transgender

On my corner (in a non-prostitute way), I stood behind the Ubiquitous Hot Transgender (UHT). She had a ghetto booty and big boobs. A car with 2 men noticed her and proceeded to honk and stop and tell her that she's hot. In her low cut, scoop neck halter-top she bent over and shook her boobs at them as she blew kisses...If those men couldn't tell, hopefully they will find out in a dark booth at Hydrate (know formerly as the Man Hole).

No Pudge Brownie Mix

done and DONE

i'm officially done with my second bachelors and can continue my career change outside of the classroom. strange feeling. good feeling. but it seems as if i have a lot more time on my hands. it's really kinda disgusting that i'm watching so much TV today. I mean, under my breath i said "YES!" when I saw that Two Weeks Notice (with Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant) is on Next. Sad. Next I'll practice my Britney Spears moves. Sigh...more later

Crying While Eating is Good

Open Rear Window

Open windows are great...you get fresh air, hear the personality of the neighborhood, and save $$. What is so distracting is the BBQ grills. I smell sweet yellow corn roasting.

you're tellin me?!

I never really "lay out" on account of my perma-tan, however yesterday, I decided to join my friends in a study session by the lake. About an hour and a half into the session, dark clouds started to come toward us. So we packed up our stuff and headed in doors. Que the 60 mile/hr winds...we had to seek shelter in a hotel about 2 blocks from my friend's place...I felt like Dorothy only my ruby red shoes were green flip flops.

We had to run through the rain...liberating and fun.

8 hours at Starbucks

starbucks, the catholic church of coffee shop. no matter where you go, you get the same thing...the same music, coffee, and color scheme. the same annoying music blasted into your ears. it's as bad as Old Navy. as for the coffee, you have to gag it down because of the overwhelming burnt taste. they really should package Tums in the fancy tins because I'd buy it. I need a tab or two from the heartburn the Cafe Verona and Breakfast blend gives me.

to keep my sanity and esophagus for 8 hours, I splurged and got a latte. freakin $3.90 for milk strained in ground beans. to my chagrin, i forgot my headphones and had just played my music out loud...hoping no one around me would mind too terribly.

i'll be back tomorrow.
