scones
Is it right to eat a tasty blueberry scone from Argo Tea still sweating from busting ass at the gym?

sweet yellow relief
I think I'm done with the supplemental application for grad school. It's only appropriate that I have "Waiting" by Greenday playing on iTunes. Ahhhhhhhh!
Turd Table
Fortune Cookies
Sooo...those damn little things are Japanese???
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/16/dining/16fort.html?
Now a researcher in Japan believes she can explain the disconnect, which has long perplexed American tourists in China. Fortune cookies, Yasuko Nakamachi says, are almost certainly originally from Japan.

Iowa Caucus

I caucused in Iowa on Thursday. Actually, I was an "observer" for the town of Underwood, Iowa with the Ryan's. What a sight. A room full of caucasians at a caucus with shrimp cocktail. I really enjoyed watching how this worked. A room with political sides, tables plastered with Obama, Hillary, Bill Richardson, Dodd, and Edwards banners, and blatant supporters. No signs of Biden. When the officiator announces that it's time count the number of supporters per group, there are clear boundaries between tables. Each sat down or lowered his/her hand as the group "leader" counted their presence. To be "viable," your candidate has to have 15% of the total participants. Bill Richardson wasn't viable and so joined Obama's side. I really loved how the locals tried to sway the undecided...from "hey, we have shrimp" to "i'll mow your lawn."

scratch
A $50 scratch-off lottery ticket? Wow...I'm too cheap for that. When I buy a lottery ticket, I do it for instant gratification...and it's been years since I bought one. You pay little for a chance to win big. With $50 you're just taking to big of a hit in the wallet. I won $200 once from $2 "Break the Bank". That's a good return

Cozumel
My sister and I went down to Cozumel, Mexico earlier this month. Everything cool is underwater. I overcame new found fear of being in deep water I realized in Sydney while snorkeling at Chankanaab. For about 20 minutes we were rockstarts zooming around on a moped with a non-functioning spedometer. For fear of losing my ability to run and for fear of losing my silver Havainas, I advocated to return the moped and get something with doors. We spent the rest of the day in a Jeep with the roof off. The group of lawyers and legal/tax people we travelled with were thebomb.com/kickass. I hope to be the official trip nurse next year...to treat the scrapes & hydration issues.

The hotel room - See the cabinets around the TV? It's filled with alcohol for you to drink as much as your liver can tolerate.

Oh yeah, it's Chankanaab...not Chankanabra (home of the Chupacabra??) It's a fresh water lagoon with a coral reef. And some gross looking creatures...the IGUANAS. I heard they taste like chicken. They just hang out there. Sometimes when you throw a few Lucky Charms on the ground, they congregate.

She don't eat meat
Yesterday, I ate a steak. Fillet Mignon. One that was grilled. And it wasn't at a restaurant. It was on a home grill. A grill at someones home in Chicago. Believe it or not, it reached 48F yesterday. For that weather anomaly, I participated in a diet anomaly. And it was damn good.
Banned
HA!!! I heard from a recent traveller to China that this blog, sweetyellowcorn.blogspot.com was in fact blocked! I'm honored.

Spinning
Last night, I worked nights without feeling the usual dire need for sleep. There must have been crack in my Starbucks coffee. After work, I went to the gym and took my first Spinning class in 3 years. Um, my crotch still hurts! That seat is NOT comfortable!

marriage
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/7093422.stm
"On the advice of an astrologer and others, he decided to marry a
bitch to get cured. Then we arranged Selvakumar's marriage with a
bitch."
Isnt' that what marriage is essentially about..."marriage with a bitch?"
Net Zero
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/15/business/15plant.html?_r=1&hp&oref=slogin
"Its goal is to take the Casa Grande plant off the power grid, or
nearly so, and run it almost entirely on renewable fuels and recycled
water. Net zero, as the concept is called, has the backing of the
highest levels of corporate executives at PepsiCo, the parent company
of Frito-Lay."
How awesome is this? This will keep our fat American asses from
totally ruining the world!

Travelling with kids
Seriously, if your kid can walk and scream, you can give him or her 25mg of diphenahydramine....knock them out. On my flight today to Chicago, one little fucker got tired of running up and down the aisle and tapped me on the arm! This kid should be strapped in a seat - don't be cheap! You had the kid and you should buy a freakin plane ticket. And don't use your CELL PHONE to entertain your kid. It should be off for fucks sake.
Lars and the Real Girl
Loved this movie. Wanted to wash Ryan Gosling's hair very badly, as well as dress his "real" girl. Rest in peace, Bianca.
