oysy

My favorite sushi place disappointed me last night.  The portions got waaay smaller.  WTF.  The Turtle was so small that it's face was distorted - the eyes (made of 2 large fish eggs and a piece of octopus) were too big for the tiny face.

I hope Sushi Wabi didn't do this too.

minty clean fresh

When I woke up this morning, I didn't feel more or less tired than usual.  It was my thirds straight day on my return to the day shift at work.  Sometimes I have to reason out loud why I am awake and then assure myself that 5:50am doesn't mean I'm late for work...it's 6:50...also just because the sun is out doesn't mean I'm late.  It's spring - the days are starting earlier

Today, my sign of tiredness was blue and minty.  Instead of the usual Brand X face wash, I squirted toothpaste into my palm.  Woops.  At least I figured it out.

scary...even a lap choley

During nursing school, it seemed that every other surgery on a med/surg floor was a "lap choley" (laparoscopic cholecystectomy) - the laparoscopic removal of the gallbladder.  The poor lady in noted in this article got really fucked by this routine procedure.  That is truly awful!

Do we really give a shit?

Maybe I'm too old to get it, but who really cares what Lindsay Lohan does?  She's a B-/C+ actress, sings apparently, and dated FES (foreign exchange student) from That 70's Show.  Her name is everywhere...and nothing complimentary.  Now I guess she's on my blog.  Sheesh.

Whata Man!

It was me...

While standing in line at CVS, a drunk homeless man came in...slurred words to everyone in line. The cashier or "shift supervisor", obviously irritated, was rude to him. She called some other cashier...who handled him better...let him pay for TicTacs. Under her breath, the "shift supervisor" said "you stink" looking at the homeless man. I actually corrected her. It was me. Instead of going home to shower after a run along the Lake Michigan trail, I decided to go shopping for paper towels. I smelled.

Lorraine Bracco

On Lorraine Bracco on tonight's Corbert Report:

I really want to palpate LB's neck.  It's HUGE!  You can hunt for nodes like it's Easter.

The AM

Carl Quintanillia's face is squished together.  I thought he was cute when I watched him on CNBC in college.  Now, he looks like a teddybear.

I'm done with my 3-day tour.  Long night.  I didn't get the rest I needed yesterday b/c I couldn't tune out the city noise I usually sleep through.  I buzzed the UPS person in and it wasn't even my package.

Whatever....no I can sleeeeeeeep.

Oscar/DirtyDC Follow-Up

I would be flattered if DirtyDC wrote something mean and bitchy about me.

Sigh, I'm sick.

Watching TV

Sadly, I have been watching TV more than I have in the past.  But their good shows.

Project Runway:
I stalled on commenting on the new episode from last Wednesday. (Bravo likes to catch people up by showing the last 5 episodes prior to the new one.)  Andre and Nick were definitely the best to pick from the "out" group.  Poor Chloe had no one to choose from.   But she took the Science Fair Route...meaning, she chose the asian girl...Diana, the one with the voice Santino hates...If you're in a group project or a sweatshop, picking the asian gets the work done.   Too bad for this girl from my high school Physics class....on the one lab day we were partnered up, I happened to feel sick, pass out, and go home.

And Santino Rice, you said you read all the comments on the blogs, etc out there...Your clothes are daring and I think you have the best shot at winning.

#1 Single:
I actually like this show.  Lisa Loeb's sister is such a leach.  But it cool she teaches developmentally delayed kids.

Oscar

Watching Jon Stewart with Tollwaywarrior on the couch and with a bitchy but awesome ( love him) gay man living in D.C. on instant messenger made tonight such a great night. Bring on the caustic commentary. My favorite comment from D.C. friend was "Cunt Slitherspoon." Maybe this sounds stupid, but I don't care...you had to be there. Check out his blog...http://dirtydc.blogspot.com.

Maybe b/c my day rocked in a crazy busy day. I felt like I've been initiated into the sorority of nursedom, nursehood, whatever. For example, i stuck a Foley catheter into a patient gastric tube site to relieve abdominal pressure...talk about an eruption of stomach contents. Actually, it was a sad day...some days you get to leave your patients getting better, but there are days when you see that death is part of the job...sigh.

Now I'm watching Donnie Darko. I forgot Patrick Swazye was a motivational speaker...he should have been the motivational speaker-guy in Requiem for a Dream. Donnie Darko is freakin cool...weird...but I know they're only showing it b/c of Jake Gyllenhal post-Brokeback Mountain.

Disturbing

When they look hideous on women, that is one thing. We have tons of shoes...cute shoes cancel out ugly ones. But when I see a man with Uggs on and his jeans folded up, I want to vomit. Because of my love for snow and my desire to violate it with my feet, I choked the vomit back down.

Uggs are so 2002 anyway.

I bet Mr. Uggs wears this...another great look from Jcrew.

Ash Wednesday

For those of you who gawked at us tonight, today is Ash Wednesday. Yes we know we have something on our forehead. Read up on Wikipedia.

Hamid

Hamid Karzai is hot. He makes the hat-and-cape look. This doesn't mean women should continue to wear ponchos.
