On a happier note...

1. Netflix lowered its price and lets you watch stuff like movies and tv shows for a few hours a month...the shitty part is it discriminates Mac's and OS10...You need Windows Vista or some shit like that to watch. What bullshit.

2. I want to watch these:
Dedication http://www.apple.com/trailers/weinstein/dedication/trailer/
Billy Crudup looks so neurotic. I have to see this.

The Darjeeling Limited http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox_searchlight/thedarjeelinglimited/trailerb/
I hated Rushmore but kinda like Bottle Rocket and really like the Royal Tennenbaums.

Feast of Love http://www.apple.com/trailers/mgm/feastoflove/trailer1/
I like A Mid Summer Nights Dream.

Margot at the Wedding http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount_vantage/margotatthewedding/trailer/
Jack Black, will you marry me?

Sleuth http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony/sleuth/trailer/
Michael Caine and Jude Law - the 2 Alfies

Lucky

There has been 3 attacks in my neighborhood in a week. I never thought of the neighborhood as unsafe but I realized how lucky we are that we can walk around at 11 at night with lots of people still out. But now, it's scary there's someone out there doing this. Sunday night, I stayed in because I was freaked out at the attack by Wrigley Field...the guy waited for the victim in her building! Holy fucking shit. Last night, I ended up at a local place for a drink with a friend. And I take the long way home just to avoid the 3 blocks of darness I would otherwise take in the day time. Anyway, I'm getting pepper spray today from Uncle Dan's . I can't wait for Amazon to deliver.

this is bad

Another girl attacked in my neighborhood. I want to carry a baseball

Eugenie Terrace

Check out the view from Eugenie Terrace on Clark and Eugenie. I helped my friends "move" after hanging out at Taste of Chicago. This is a taste of Chicago too. It's no wonder they don't want to move out of this apartment yet...And when I say "move," I mean eat snacks and help move things from the elevator to the apartment. It was lower in activity than watching the moving van on the street! Shit, I'll take the job anytime.

My Power Crush

Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald

Sunshine

http://movies2.nytimes.com/2007/07/20/movies/20suns.html?8dpc

I want to watch this. For one thing, it's by Danny Boyle of Trainspotting, Life Less Ordinary, 28 Days and 28 Weeks Later. And it's got Cillian Murphy...Jim...I love that name.

I like the sci-fi/the world is going to shit genres...except for the cheesy Armageddon bullshit.

Slipping

I must be slipping in my old age. Not too long ago, I could remember highlights of conversations, verbatim and in what context, tipsy and sober. Now, I don't know what's going on. Maybe it's the revolving door of insomnia. Maybe my brain is too full with other insignificant random facts and movie quotes. With E last night, I said something that we laughed at and I clearly remember saying, I've got to remember that one. However, not even 30 minutes go by and I can't remember what the fuck I just said.

Anyway, last night was fun. We went to the Akira party on North Ave and got rock star...or in the spirit of the music playing, DJ Paul Oakenfold treatment so didn't have to slum it in the drinks line. I would definitely order a pepperoni and jalapeno pizza - red of course, at Piece as long as the next stop is Danny's in which my vodka tonic can extinguish the fire in my stomach.

I love WP/Bucktown. And Danny's. Although it's like a male skinny jean convention every night. I like it. Next Tuesday is Smith's Night so I will be there. Last night had some memorable figures that E and I had a fun time figuring out...

1) Waldo - it wasn't hard to see where Waldo was since he stood at the bar by us
2) Duckie Dale - ya know, it didn't work with Molly Ringwald so maybe if you didn't wear the top hat and the tank top with the skinny jeans you might actually look cool
3) Cowboy Beanpole - Dude, girls dig tall guys but if I or any girl can't fit into your jeans we won't let you get into ours. On the flip side, if you look better in my jeans, keep walking.
4) Jesus - Very many men try to maybe pay tribute to the Man himself, Jesus Christ with the beard.

Good Catholic

I miraculously made it to mass at 9 am today...yes, it's Friday. I'm crazy like that... Anyway, I used my versatile accessory called my hair to conceal the words on my shirt:

Sleep with someone you can trust

These capsules don't look much bigger than hotels in London!?

Damn shin splint

My lift shin has been bothering me for 3 weeks now.  I thought new shoes would cure it.  Didn't go away but I heard in passing that maybe it takes time to get used to new shoes.  But I've noticed a bump on where it hurts.  So I'm going to see the sports med MD that I've seen a few times.  Hope it's something easy to work on.

Last week, K and I went over to Moksha Yoga for a Vinyasa Hatha class.  Really liked it but DAMN!  I'm not as flexible as before.  The instructor come around to press on you in order to challenge you muscles...she tried to make me strecth deeper but I freakin fought back...it was my first yoga class in 2 years.  I would go again.

Rank

My list of favorite bars is short but I've taken time to rank them.

1.  Danny's on Dickens and Damen - had the best time sitting at the bar talking to the bartender Hans and hanging with the girls

2. Matisse - Set a record last week...went there 4 out of 7 nights.  This is a new place for me...haven't had a chance to sit in the patio out.  It's so convenient and has a different crowd every night.

3.  Rodan - on Milwaukee with a sign that's hard to see

Once

Watched Once over the weekend.  At first I questioned whether I could sit for the entire movie.

My initial thought was it's a musical.  It wasn't.  But listening to the lyrics is a good part of the movie.

My second was, oh shit, I can't handle a movie about homeless people right now.  The girl had chronic greasy hair and wore socks with stockings and a long skirt.  The guy had an extra hole in his guitar. Not the case.

Me, LB, and E went directly to Borders across the street so E can buy the soundtrack.

I totally recommend it BUT I don't know if I can watch it again.

Maybe one way to quash this problem is to have a "No Swallowing Policy." (Although, there's no way of enforcing it either)
I would absolutely violate this rule if they had it.

On the Brown Line to the Taste of CHicago, I got a little sick to my stomach listening to large people talk about the food there as if it were the freakin Mona Lisa...Yuck

But...I managed to slam food down my mouth. It was good. So hot outside Not drinking weather. ANd what the fuck is up with women in the 3 inch heals? It's food for fucks sake!

cross dressing

Funny...I wonder what a Muslim version of White Chicks...or any other
cross-dressing movie would be like.
