Burrito Style

What exactly does "burrito style" mean? I walk past Angela's Burrito Style on Clark Street just about everyday. BAM and I wondered the same thing New Years Eve 2006-2007. Can you officially "burrito style" anything?

Click here: Read this article about Hemingway and Marlene Detreich

"He begins another: “What do you really want to do for a life work? Break everybody’s heart for a dime? You could always break mine for a nickel and I’d bring the nickel.”"

Winter Wear/Where

It's a dreary cool day in Chicago. I like it. Kinda cozy. But I'm putting away my winter clothes. The dude at the New Balance store got kinda mad that I said it will snow 1 more time before it stays warm for the rest of spring and summer. Come on, it's Chicago. We were all out in shorts, skirts, and flip flops on Sunday. Yesterday, I sat outside at Starbucks by the gym and felt the cool weather re-start with a single cool burst of air. Then I met a friend for lunch and found that my outfit was not enough for the cooldown. And I watched all the people leaving work for home in short sleeves and skirts. See, you weren't the only fool freezing!

Pan's Labyrinth

Cool movie.
Painful scenes to watch:
1. Creature with eyes on hands
2. Impromptu smile surgery

Radiator

Gosh, I love how my building is so intuned with the weather. When it was in the negative temps, my place was frosty. Hmm. It's like 80 and the heat is on. Fabulous.

52:46

Exhausted. I'm hoping to sleep soon. Really soon. Good solid rest.
Saturday night, I went out with a group of friends and new acquaintances for dinner and then drinks at a place called Danny's on Dickens just off Damen. I think this my favorite bar in Chicago. Webster's is my favorite wine bar. Danny's is like a house party with a DJ and chill music. Very chill music. When I left at 1AM, I felt ready for bed. Only when I got in bed, I never fell asleep. Would have been ok...typical of my functioning insomniac status. However, Sunday...today was the Shamrock Shuffle.

Oh the Shamrock Shuffle, 80's style. I will post the pictures up as soon as I get them from Mr. Debbi Gibson. Running with a sweatshirt a la Flashdance was not easy. It was way warmer than I anticipated. Also, I over cut the neck line so the damn thing was falling off and I had the ugliest pair of 80's sunglasses and they were RED. It was fun running with the aerobics crew. Very good time. The bloody mary and sitting under the sun and Brown Line/Red Line at Kelly's would have been perfect if I could had put on my black Havainas on. Who cares, the weather was perfect

Shamrock Shuffle 80's Style

The Shamrock Shuffle 80's style tomorrow at 9:30.
Aa group partially comprised of the people I trained with for last year's marathon have decided to dress up 80's style. Like Jane Fonda. I made my off shoulder sweatshirt, Flashdance Style with a pair of scissors, an old large BR swearshirt, and my poor cutting skills. Watchout Bananarama and Pat Benetar!

Run

FN (First Noel) and I ran tonight. First time in months. This June will be our 3 year running anniversary. So retarded to mention, but we ran together when it was 10 degrees and snowing last winter. You have to be great friends to do this together. And we kicked out personal records at the Pride 10k last summer. Tonight, we ran our 5.5 miles, in the moonlight and streetlight along Lake Michigan. Very refreshing to be out there again. Not cold if you're running. Hope there's more good times and good runs like this.

Late

There's nothing like waking up late for work after going out to see a show. That's something I thought was totally ok at age 23. But I'm a nurse, YOU CAN"T DO THIS NURSE SWEETYELLOWCORN!!!

It's the insomnia-stared at the window until 4am. So much fun!

Anyway, it was fun last night at the Metro. Saw Bent Moustache, really liked You Am I. Tim Rogers is delicious. Sebadoh should have stayed in the early 90's. The Scottish guitarist of Bent Moustache is a looker in person. Not so much on stage. I couldn't help but flirt with him as he waited for people to buy their band merch. Oh well, on to another midwest city. How exciting. Weiner Circle afterward. Typical Chicago activities I suppose. You want fries with that, beyatch!?

You AM I

I get to wear my shirt with tits on it!!!! Going to see You Am I at the Metro in a bit. Tits! A shirt with tits!

It's the little things in life which makes me smile!

Coffee

Tomorrow is Dunkin Donut's Free Ice Coffee Day. Heard about it on the radio. Apparently, "Offer is good while supplies last." How the hell can you run out of coffee? Well, it is DD. I once tried buying a donut at a store on Harvard Ave just off Comm Ave in Boston but they ran out?! How do you run out of donuts? It's in your name?!

P.S. I apologize to the guy who lost his balance due to my runaway medicine ball.

Crank

I finished watching Crank with Jason Statham this morning. It was somthing suggested on Netflix, what the hell?! It's really bad so it's funny. Snickers and snorts. There are worst movies out there. My opinion is a wee bit skewed because I think this man is hot and was great in Lock, Stock, and 2 Smoking Barrels as well as The Italian Job.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0479884/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jason_Statham

I'm sure I'll watch Transporter and Transporter 2 soon. He's hot!

Boyfriend

Oh NO!!! Don't fire my boyfriend!

So I've had a power crush on Mr. Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald for the last 2 years. I've seen him in my neighborhood. We exchange smiles. I want to throw him some deuces but it's way to immature for a special prosecutor.

You are right!

Hey Lacha,

Looks like the restaurant wasn't a dream. I googled "night vision goggles restaurant" and this is what I found.

Pitch Black Restaurant in Beijing
http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/gadgets/pitch-black-restaurant-opens-in-beijing-226059.php

The meal will be taken in this environment with the complete loss of vision. By starving one's sense, your other senses are stimulated to full alert - all so the theory goes - and your food will taste like it's never tasted before.

I'm kinda sorry I found this.

Manoa Falls

Memorial

The closest we came to Pearl Harbour memorial. Couldn't pass up the pancakes at Keoni's or the coconut syrup to get in line early. Even ended up in a downpour and still couldn't get tickets.

Tribute to Hairy Legs

Rabbit and Big Balls

The bigger island further back is called Rabbit Island. The one closer has a Hawaiian name that means big testicles when translated.

Sacrifice

Human sacrifice grounds on top of a hill.

Kinda morbid, but the ground is burnt orange, Hook Em!

North Shore

The North Shore on Oahu is totally different from the North Shore, Chicago. I think this is the Bonzai Pipeline, nameless like a really cool hidden dive bar. Gigantic waves and men in wet suits. Like Sydney sans the accent. But I'm not ever sure about that because I didn't talk to this surfer man.

Created by a tsunami

Really wished I could remember what this place was called. I think this was taken in a place called Lei'hi. I know it starts with and L. There's a Mormon temple there. The donut hole was created by a tsunami according to the guide book.

From Here to Eternity

Aloha
Beach scene from the movie

Beach last week without anyone we knew rolling in the waves.

Green

McD's on Chicago by the Red line stop. Didn't know they served Guinness.

Look. The Chicago River is always green.

My vision by the end of the night.

Fall Out Boy

So I'm sitting here organizing pictures from the last few days (Hawaii Aloho and St. Patrick's Day) and emailing them to friends.
First of all, I totally dig the Fall Out Boy album Infinity on High. The titles on the song are clever.
For example:
1. I'm Like a Lawyer With the Way I'm Always Trying to Get You Off (Me & You) - With the title scrolling across my iPod, I don't think I've ever pieced this one together.
2. The Carpal Tunnel of Love
3. You're Crashing, But You're No Wave
4. I've Got All This Ringing In My Ears and None On My Fingers

Earlier tonight, I talked to my Dad on the phone and told him all that I had to drink yesterday. He was both proud and I think needed to sit down. It wasn't the time we started that got him...10am...it's 5pm somewhere. It's the mini pitcher of beer and the multiple Irish Car Bombs and Jaeger Bombs. It never gets tiring. I'm still a 16 yr old trying to shock her father.

Now I know why the Shamrock Shuffle is NOT the same weekend as St. Patrick's Day.

Drunk

St. Patty;s Day.

I have to warn you that I'm wasted right now. Got up at 8, took a shower, went to Starbucks, then went to Matt's apt for green eggs, ham, and irish car bombs. THE rest is a haze. I'm wasted right now. Pretty horrible. I have to work tomorrow. I'm wasted, did i tell you?

Had the weirdest experience on Lincoln St with this dumb ass white chick. First she asked me if I were asian. Ok, yes. then she was like, "I didint knwo asians celebrate st. patricks day." ok you racist bitch, I'm CATHOLIC! WTF?! THEN SHE proceded to tell me about the people who converted me. WEIRD WEIRD and WEIRD. Whatever you dumb bitch. Go primp and drive your freakin Jetta,

Anyway, I had fun,

there's a party in my head and everyone is invited.

Lost Sighting

Watched the first 4 episodes of Lost before my trip to Oahu. At the Kahala hotel, I spotted this gentleman walking out of the lobby, I wanted to yell, "It's KIP from the English Patient!"

$ for urine

Police said the brother then reportedly went into the boys' bathroom and stopped several students, telling them that he would give them $10 if they urinated into a plastic cup for him.

Tragic

How fricking tragic is it when you have to move from a Katrina relocation site?

HAMMOND, La. (AP) -- Dozens of families evacuated from a FEMA trailer park that had been plagued by sewage leaks and power outages were in temporary homes Monday, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency said it had requested work permits to dismantle the site this week.

Maybe it's for the best. Sounds like shit conditions anyway.

Seriously

I am seriously drowsey. Even after I slammed my Americano my eyes are still trying to open up. It's possible to blindfold me with floss...If you do kidnap me, please take me out of the hospital and bring me home.

The Namesake

I can't believe that Kumar (Kal Penn) is playing Gogul in movie The Namesake. I loved this book. Depressing like hell but so good nonetheless. It's hard not to wait for Kal Penn to dance with a bag of weed.

Jhumpa Lahiri wasn't involved in the screen adaptation so I'm sure a lot will be missed.

Ben Harper Cover

Hey,

Vote for Ben.

Crunchy

I like crunchy foods. It's the reason why I ate Cracker Jacks, Cheetos (what the hell are these delicious crunch gnarly things?) and chips and salsa for a snack with Kimchi and Homey. Maybe if it wasn't so damn gross and dreary out side. Don't get me wrong. I love the feeling of walking around, wrapped with a scarf and topped with a hat, dodging puddles, trying to control my useless umbrella caught in the wind. But I've had it up to here with the Chicago weather. I'm fortunate that I'm going to Hawaii next week.

Anyway, we didn't end up going to a show at the Metro...a show that ended up being free if you got there before 9 pm. What the frick!?
