For lunch today, the subject of immunizations came up. It's fitting topic of conversation for a pediatric nurse (me) and a pediatrician. We were at a Thai noodle place in the neighborhood. Anyway, I wondered if peanut allergies were common in Thailand b/c it seems like such a big deal here. I told my friend that I would inevitably Google this question. And this is what I found:
http://edition.cnn.com/2005/HEALTH/conditions/05/18/peanut.allergies/index.htmlAdding to the confusion is that in countries like Indonesia and Thailand, where peanuts are ubiquitous, there is virtually no peanut allergy, leaving the experts to concede they really don't know for sure why food allergies are on the rise.
