Slick shoes??? Are you crazy?

I don't know how women can continue to wear heels they can barely walk from the door at Starbucks to the counter. How much harder is it carrying a freakin Grande Frappacino? I am sure that some people's feet have arches that are just made to walk in 3-inch heels all day long...I am not one of those. Every once in while I find a shoe with 2 inch heels that I can walk all over Chicago in. Kitten heels are friendly to my feet too...except when it snows. But that's any shoe not made of tires. Last week, I blew $350 on a pair of custom orthotics just for the marathon...and for my plans to run for the rest of my life. The PT was like, you have a callous here because you have collapsed metatarsels...Well, shit. I thought the callous was there becuase I have disgusting feet. Didn't think about the fact that my body compensates for my biomechanics. Hope it was a good investment.

I've come to terms with 3 inch heels and pain. Sometimes there best as "sitting shoes." I got a great deal on a pair of Joan and David 3 inch wedges with leather straps. Funny but there is the word cannoting comfort etched in the bottom...Au contraire...there's nothing comfortable after walking a block. So I now carry a pair of Havaianas or Rainbows in my purse. I switch shoes in the cab and switch back to comfort shoes on the way to the cab home.

Ha! You sound like me! I'm not running this year, but I'm thinking about training for a tri next year. Good luck with your training and be sure to elevate your legs at night. :)
